Telewerken is een werkregeling waarbij werknemers niet naar een centrale werkplek pendelen. Iemand die telewerkt wordt een \"telecommuter\", \"telewerker\" en soms een \"thuiswerker\" of \"thuiswerker\" genoemd. Veel telewerkers werken vanuit huis, terwijl anderen, die soms \"nomadenwerkers\" worden genoemd, mobiele telecommunicatietechnologie gebruiken om vanuit koffieshops of andere locaties te werken. Volgens een peiling van Reuters \"telewerken ongeveer een op de vijf werknemers over de hele wereld, met name werknemers in het Midden-Oosten, Latijns-Amerika en Azi\u00eb, vaak en werkt bijna 10 procent elke dag thuis\".
